Vienna’s public transport is operated by Wiener Linien (U-Bahn, trams, buses) and VOR (regional S-Bahn).

U-Bahn (Metro)

5 lines (U1, U2, U3, U4, U6) serving the city and suburbs. Hours: approximately 5:00–00:30 (all night on Fridays, Saturdays, and before public holidays).

Trams and Buses

29 tram lines and over 130 bus lines, plus 20+ night bus lines covering the entire city. The tram network is one of the largest in the world. S-Bahn runs 24/7 on main lines.

How to Pay

Ticket machines at all U-Bahn stations, WienMobil app (cheaper digital prices), online shop, tabac shops (Trafik), onboard trams. Must validate (stamp) at blue machines before boarding. Fine: approximately €105.

Airport Transfer (VIE)

  • CAT (City Airport Train): 16 minutes, €12–14.90 one-way
  • S-Bahn S7: 25 minutes, €4.40 (cheapest option)
  • Vienna Airport Lines bus: 30–45 minutes, €8–9.50
  • Taxi: Fixed rate approximately €38 (pre-booked)

Licensed taxis available at stands or hailed. Apps: Uber and Bolt available. Pre-booked airport transfers: approximately €38 fixed for up to 4 passengers. Night supplements may apply.
